Veneers aren’t painful. To prepare your teeth for veneers, we typically remove a tiny amount of tooth enamel. Since enamel has no nerve endings, you likely won’t feel any discomfort at all. If you have sensitive teeth, we can numb you with local anesthesia prior to your veneers procedure. If you’re nervous or worried about discomfort, you can also receive laughing gas.
Veneers are made of durable, stain-resistant materials like porcelain and ceramic. Because of this, they can last well over a decade with proper care. We’ll polish them during your dental cleanings to help keep them looking great. That said, they can be replaced if necessary. If you do decide to remove veneers, you’ll want to cover the area where enamel was removed with new veneers or other restorations like crowns.
